I am delighted to inform you that the school has successfully secured funding from the Department of Social Protection School Meals Scheme for a Hot Meal lunch service. The service has been authorised to start from 1st September 2023. This lunch scheme has very successfully run in a hot meal pilots in selected schools around Ireland since 2020. Feedback has been very positive in these schools and further funding has been provided based on the success of the original pilot
From the first day of the hot meal service, each student can avail of hot meal daily, for which there is no charge. We are working through the logistics of the start-up process and as soon as that has been concluded, I will be able to confirm the start date of this scheme. I expect this to be in September/October 2023.
Moneenroe NS have selected Freshtoday as our hot meal service provider. Sample hot meals have been dropped to the school for review and tasting by school staff and the quality and presentation of food was excellent. Freshtoday have operated from Enniscorthy Business Park in Wexford since 2010 and have since expanded the business nationally. They have a strong ethos of supporting local business across the south east.
We are currently working with Freshtoday on planning, logistics and implementation of the service. Hot meal options will include traditional meals such as Roast Chicken and Shepherd’s Pie, student favourites such as Chicken Curry & Rice, Meatballs & Mash and Pasta Bolognese. There will also be ciabatta, wrap and allergen friendly options available, so hopefully something for all tastes!
An updated information sheet will be supplied by Freshtoday in due course, that will include the username and password information so you can login to order your child’s hot meal.
We are delighted to introduce a hot meal service to the students of Moneenroe NS, which I’m sure will be a great success!
