Dear Parents/Guardians,

A very warm welcome back to all our pupils and families. We hope everyone has enjoyed a relaxing and enjoyable summer break. We are delighted to welcome everybody back to 

Moneenroe N.S. on Tuesday, 25th August 2026 and we look forward to a happy, successful and enjoyable school year ahead.

A particularly warm welcome to our new Junior Infants and all new pupils joining our school community. We hope you settle in quickly, make lots of new friends and have a wonderful year with us.

We would also like to take this opportunity to wish all our First Year pupils who are starting secondary school next week the very best of luck. We are extremely proud of you and wish you every success and happiness as you begin this exciting new chapter.

School Times & Collection Arrangements:
 

Please take note of the following arrangements:
Supervision begins at 9.05am.
School commences daily at 9.20am.
Junior Infants will finish at 12.00pm for the first ten school days.
From Tuesday, 8th September onwards, Junior Infants will finish at 2.00pm.
Senior Infants will continue with their usual 2.00pm collection time.
To allow for the safe dispersal of all pupils, Senior Infants will be collected first, followed by Junior Infants.

We kindly ask all parents/guardians to adhere to these arrangements to ensure that the end of the school day is safe and runs as smoothly as possible.

 

Home time for the Senior Classes:

2:55 pm - 5th and 6th Class

2:57pm - 3rd and 4th Class

2:59pm - 1st and 2nd Class

 

Older siblings should be encouraged to wait for their younger siblings and walk safely with them. 

Fresh Today – School Lunches:
Our school lunches will continue to be provided by Fresh Today.
On Tuesday, 25th August, cold lunches only will be supplied.
Hot meals will be provided from Wednesday onwards.

Due to recent changes in staffing, the following arrangements have been made for the upcoming school year:

Third & Fourth Class – Ms. Amanda McCourt
Fifth & Sixth Class – Mr. Michael Twomey

Principal Release Day (Admin) - Ms. Caitríona Lonergan

We are delighted to welcome our new teachers, Ms. Ruth Kennedy and Mr. Michael Twomey, to the Moneenroe N.S. school community. We wish them both a very warm welcome and a wonderful year ahead.

Sixth Class Hoodies:
Our sincere thanks to the Parents Association for upcoming purchase of the Sixth Class hoodies. We are extremely appreciative of your generosity and continued support of the school.
In the meantime, Sixth Class will continue to wear their previous navy school top until the new hoodies arrive.

Junior Playground:
We are delighted to announce that the Junior Playground area has been fully replaced. We sincerely thank our Board of Management & Rev. Fr. Corcoran for their financial support and assistance in making this project possible. Play markings will be applied shortly, which will further enhance the area for our younger pupils.

School Uniform:
We would like to remind all families that a smart school uniform is expected to be worn at all times. We appreciate and expect your cooperation in ensuring that pupils come to school appropriately dressed.
Junior Infants will wear tracksuits only.
Senior Infants to Second Class may continue to wear their previous uniform of skirts, pinafores or trousers, blue shirts and ties, if they so wish.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a smart and consistent school uniform standard.

After-School Club:
The After-School Club with Lorraine will commence on Monday, 31st August, and will run from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. The club will be moving to the hall shortly.

Homework:

Homework will be carried out in school for the first week back. This will allow all pupils to settle gently back to school routine. 

Junior Infants homework commences on Monday, October 5th 2026.

We are very excited about the year ahead and all that it will bring. We would like to thank our parents/guardians for your continued support, cooperation and commitment to our school community.
